What is the ball valve?
A ball valve is a valve that uses a ball with a hole in the center to control the flow of fluid in a pipe. These valves are popular because they are reliable, easy to operate, and provide a tight shutoff when closed. An externally threaded brass ball valve is a special type of ball valve with external threads on both ends that can be connected to internally threaded fittings.
Ball valves are often threaded because they are commonly used in piping systems. These systems typically consist of a series of pipes, fittings, valves, and other components that must be connected to create a functional system. Ball valves are designed to be easily installed between two sections of pipe, allowing the flow of fluid between the two sections to be controlled.
Ball Valves advantages
Quick installation
Ball valves require no special tools, no welding, no crimping, or glue. Ball valves mainly play the role of cutting off, distributing, and changing the flow direction of media in pipelines.
Excellent durability
This ball valve is made of high-quality stainless steel material, which is strong, not easy to age, and wear-resistant, ensuring maximum strength and durability for long-term use.
Easy to rotate
The full-bore ball valve is easy to operate and easy to rotate after installation, making it easier to achieve closure or work in a small space. Install a new valve or repair a leaking water pipe quickly and easily.
Tight seal
These stainless steel ball valves are equipped with a tight seal to ensure leak-free and long-lasting sealing after years of frequent use. Full-bore ball valves allow fluid to pass easily and freely through the valve.
Brass ball valves are available in a wide range of applications. Most of the time, brass is a good choice. When it comes to drinking water applications, lead-free brass is a good choice unless the water is corrosive to it, such as high salt content. In this case, another material such as stainless steel or PVC would work better. Due to the cost of lead-free brass, other materials, such as stainless steel (also lead-free), have become more likely options.
Brass ball valves are used in residential and commercial plumbing, water wells, HVAC, and many other applications. Basically, brass is generally a good material as long as the material passing through the valve is not highly corrosive.
Brass Filter Ball Valve
installation steps
(1) Before installing the filter, the threaded connection surfaces of all pipes should be carefully cleaned and an appropriate amount of pipe sealant or polytetrafluoroethylene tape (PTFE) should be used.
(2) The end threads are not machined to prevent sealant or PTFE tape from entering the piping system. The filter can be installed horizontally or vertically downward.
Threaded ball valve connection method
Threaded connection
The threaded connection of brass ball valves generally adopts G or NPT thread, which is simple and convenient to install. The method of use is to tightly connect the threads of the ball valve to the threads of the pipe.
Welding
connection
The welding connection of brass ball valves generally adopts three methods: butt welding, welding, or sleeve welding. When used, the ball valve and the pipe need to be welded into a whole. This connection method is suitable for larger pipe diameters.
Flange
connection
The flange connection of brass ball valves generally adopts ANSI or JIS standards. When used, the ball valve and the pipe flange need to be connected together to form a whole. This connection method is suitable for situations where the pipe diameter is large or needs to be disassembled and repaired.
Clamping connection
The clamping connection of brass ball valves generally uses band-shaped clamps or elastic rings. The ball valve and the pipe need to be clamped together during use. This connection method is suitable for situations where the pipe diameter is small or requires frequent disassembly.
How to use Thread Ball Valve?
1. Opening and closing:
The opening and closing of the brass ball valve is relatively simple, just rotate the manual operating lever 90 degrees. If electric or pneumatic control is needed to open and close the ball valve, corresponding settings need to be made according to different control methods.
2. Maintenance:
In order to ensure the normal service life of the brass ball valve, regular maintenance work is required. Generally speaking, brass ball valves need to be lubricated, cleaned, and inspected to ensure smooth operation and reliable sealing.
In short, choosing the correct brass ball valve connection method and style is very important for the normal operation and maintenance of the pipeline system. The appropriate connection method and style of the brass ball valve should be selected according to actual needs to ensure its continuous and stable operation.
What is a "full bore" ball valve?
Ball valves are sometimes referred to as "full bore". A full-bore ball valve is a special valve design that allows unrestricted flow when the valve is open. Full-port valves have larger bodies than standard valves. This larger body accommodates a larger ball and a larger internal opening. The opening of a full-port valve is the same size as the surrounding pipe. For example, a 2-inch full-bore ball valve will be compatible with a 2-inch pipe and have a 2-inch valve opening within the ball. This is useful for applications that require little to no traffic loss. When a full-way valve is in the "open" or open position, it is like there is no valve there at all. Traffic is unlimited.
In addition to full-bore valves, there are also so-called "reduced-bore" ball valves. As you might imagine, this means the opening in the ball is smaller than in a full-port valve. In fact, it's exactly one pipe size smaller. For example, a 3/4" reduced bore valve has a ball opening of 1/2" pipe size. This smaller opening results in increased velocity.
Generally speaking, full-bore ball valves are more expensive than standard or reduced-bore ball valves. Depending on the application, one of these may be beneficial. However, when it comes to ball valves, they all serve the same purpose - to provide an on/off or open/close function in a pipeline.
